Work at Height Regulations and LED Technicians
“In 2005/06 falls from height accounted for 46 fatal accidents at work and around 3350 major injuries. They remain the single biggest cause of workplace deaths and one of the main causes of major injury.”
We all have a responsibility to ensure that we work in a safe manner. With this in mind we have decided that from 6th April 2009 we will pay a reduced daily rate for any subcontractor who does not hold a formal work at height qualification, and is therefore ‘unable’ to work at height.
We will also require appropriate insurance that specifically covers work at height. Many of you will I’m sure, have appropriate insurance, and some of you, formal qualifications for work at height. If you haven’t already done so can you please send proof to us at the normal address. For those of you that do not have one or both of these, we would suggest contacting the Production Services Association (PSA) for guidance and discounts on insurance and IRATA for suitable course providers.
We can also host courses here if there is sufficient interest. Our provider ‘Heightworks’ can teach groups of six, we will provide our facilities free of charge in order to minimise the costs and payment of course fees would be made directly to the provider. If you are interested in attending a course please contact
